
The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) is mandated to regulate, control and manage migration into and out of Ghana in a manner that contributes to national security. Its functions include examining the travel documents of persons entering or leaving the country; enforcing laws on the immigration and employment of non-Ghanaians; implementing international co-operation agreements on migration; managing and patrolling the country's borders; and issuing visas for entry and permits for residence or work in Ghana.
